BROCKTON – Midway through their opening game of the Division 2 South first-round contest, the Bishop Feehan hockey team found itself down a pair of goals.
Thanks in large part to Kyle Browne, the Shamrocks survived.
The senior captain finished with a hat-trick, netting the game-tying goal late in the second period before putting his team ahead for good with a wild goal just seconds into the final period, as No. 3 Bishop Feehan (16-4-1) rallied for a 6-4 victory over defending Div. 2 state champion Medfield last night at Asiaf Rink in Brockton.
“We knew coming in that (Medfield) really weren't a 14-seed,” Browne said. “As you can see, they're a lot better than their record showed. But we've been in that position of being down by goals before, and we just know that we've got to play our own game, and the goals will come.”
After Browne gave the Shamrocks an early lead five minutes into the contest, the Warriors (9-10-2) would answer, as Brian Abely tied the game at 1 just 45 seconds later. After back-to-back goals from the Schofield brothers, the Warriors appeared to have taken a stranglehold of the game.
“(Medfield) got a goal and we kind of fell into a little bit of a lull,” Shamrocks coach Kevin Dunn said. “So we told them to forget about what's going on, go play your game, work hard, and just keep picking away at them one at a time, and we'll go from there.”
    Message received.
Following Browne's go-ahead goal early in the third period, junior John Anghinetti scored seconds later to make it 5-3 with 14:17 remaining.
