Two-time Division 1 state boys lacrosse champions Lincoln-Sudbury will be part of the “High School Rivalry Series”, an event sponsored by the Boston Cannons.
Lincoln-Sudbury and Longmeadow will play on Saturday, May 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Harvard University leading up to the Cannons' contest against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. A week later (Sat., May 13, 4 p.m.), ISL powers St. Sebastian's and Governor's Academy will square off.
“We are very excited to host the first every rivalry series at Harvard Stadium this year,” Cannons' president Ian Frenette said in a statement. “Massachusetts has become a hotbed of lacrosse at all levels and it’s our goal to showcase the great teams and players in our scholastic ranks. Both games will feature the top high school teams in the state and will undeniably be entertaining games.”
The LS-Longmeadow rivalry pits a pair of programs having tremendous success over the past five decades. The Lincoln-Sudbury team has a long history of All-Americans including three former Cannons now in their hall of fame; Brendan Glass ‘93, Kevin O’Brien ’94, and Jake Beebe ‘05.
“These are two of the oldest programs in the state. Both teams Coaches have spent their life trying to grow this game,” Lincoln-Sudbury head coach Brian Vona said. “To be a part of this is pretty special.”
Fans can purchase a “High School Rivalry Series” game general admission ticket and Cannons gold section ticket for just $30. General admission tickets just for the High School games with no admission to the Cannons game are $15.
