The target is squarely on the back of the Everett football team and a quick look at our 12th annual Boston Herald Preseason All-Star team tells you why.
Six members of the defending Division 1 state championship team landed on our first team, while two more earned spots on the second team. Several others are on the cusp of being everyday contributors for the Crimson Tide.
Boston Herald All-Scholastic running back Daniel Abraham became a household name last year when he ran for 385 yards and four touchdowns in a wild season-opening 61-39 win over Andover. Abraham, who recently committed to Harvard, is one of four Eagles who landed on our first team.
Lexington's re-emergence as a Middlesex League power last season was due in large part to the overall brilliance of Sal Frelick. The rishing senior threw for for 2,026 yards and 31 touchdowns while adding 1,586 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.
Longtime defensive coordinator Al Fornaro takes over as head coach at Xaverian and he will see some familiar faces returning to fuel the defense. Yale-commit Brian Abraham and Cooper Deveau will lead the secondary, while Dom DePaoli is ready to asset himself on the defensive line.
