Malden High School's Golden Tornado Hall of Fame opened its doors to seven new inductees at its banquet and induction ceremony at the Malden Moose Hall.
The new Hall of Fame inductees are Paul Frazer ('81, football, hockey, baseball); Paul Miller ('87, football, basketball, baseball), Billy Roderick ('88, football, baseball); Corey Johnson ('91, basketball), Sheila Nanjengo ('01, basketball, track); and Steve Verdi ('06, basketball, baseball, football). Also inducted as a player was Malden second-year athletic director Charlie Confefrey ('97, basketball, cross country, track).
Inducted into the Hall of Fame as Distinguished Service Award recipients were Henry Dorazio Jr. and James "Jimmy" Dorazio.
Also honored were three Peter Donoghue Memorial Golden Eagle Scholarship Essay Award winners. Players who were honored for penning essays on coaches who inspired them were Nate Ilebode (basketball coach Don Nally), Patrick Pereira (soccer coach Jeremiah Smith) and Harrison Zeiberg (baseball coach Steve Freker).
