St. Mary's (Lynn) athletic director Jeff Newhall confirmed that his school is appealing a recent MIAA Board of Directors ruling that would seed his highly-ranked boys basketball last in the Division 3 North tournament. Newhall's argument is that MIAA Rule 29.3 which states that students or teams that have gained court injunctions forcing their entry into the MIAA tournament will be seeded last doesn't apply here since the Spartans have already qualified for the tournament and are not forcing their way in.
