High school baseball returns to Fenway Park.

The Red Sox announced that St. John's Prep and Xaverian will be part of a doubleheader at Fenway Park on April 21 as part of an ALS Awareness Charity event.

Tickets for the single-admission doubleheader, which starts with the 10:30 a.m. high school baseball game followed by the 3 p.m. BC vs. Florida State game, are $10 and on sale now at redsox.com/alsgame. All proceeds from the two games will benefit patients and families living with ALS through the Pete Frates Home Health Initiative – a cause that is close to both high schools and BC.

“Playing at Fenway is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity for our players,” said St. John's Prep baseball coach Dan Letarte. “It's a day they will never forget.”

Added Xaverian coach Gerry Lambert: “It's a tremendous thrill for our players and coaches to get a chance to play at Fenway Park. We are very fortunate to have this opportunity.”

The horrors of ALS have greatly affected both the St. John's Prep and Xaverian community. Peter Frates is a graduate of both St. John’s Prep and BC, and has been living with ALS for six years. Longtime teacher and assistant principal of Xaverian Brothers High School, Brother Raymond Hoyt, passed away from the disease in October 2017, only 15 months after his diagnosis.
