The Newton North football team will be doing its part to promote and be a part of the "Be Bold Be Bald" campaign for cancer awareness. The event takes place on October 21 and all funds raised that will go to fight cancer.
The Tigers have been actively working with Facing Cancer Together & Be Bold Be Bald to coordinate promotions & involvement. Facing Cancer together will be attending every home game this season and will explain the event as well as sell bald caps at each home game.
Newton North involvement in this organization has prompted other local schools to be involved as well. The Newton South football team is now committed to participate in this event as well as LaSalle College.
What is Be Bold Be Bald: Be Bold, Be Bald! is a national fundraising event held on the third Friday of October each year, and takes place wherever you are. Participants go bald by boldly wearing a bald cap (or very boldly shaving their head) to honor those who bravely fight cancer and raise money to help fight back. Participants get sponsored for their bold move, and choose the charity they want their proceeds to benefit.
